Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are specifically used for fine wrinkles, rytides, solar keratoses, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, acne vulgaris, acne scarring, oily skin, rosacea, and superficial scarring. They are classified as superficial, medium depth or deep peels, depending on the depth of skin peeling. Common peeling agents include: glycolic acid, salicylic acid, Jessner’s solution and trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Dr Grimes has been at the forefront of chemical peels for ethnic skin, and can assist a patient of any ethnicity in achieving optimum results with chemical peeling.

Chemical peels are performed on an outpatient basis.  They do not require anesthesia, although sedation can be offered. Your skin will smooth and soften, resulting in a brighter complexion with reduced discoloration and minimized pore size.  Some patients have also reported an improvement in fine wrinkles.

TCA peels and gycolic acid are popular for treating acne, acne scars, dry skin, photo damage, age spots, pigment irregularities, and fine wrinkles.  There are various chemical peels available with different benefits. During your initial consultation with Dr. Pearl Grimes in her Los Angeles office, your condition will be evaluated and the most appropriate treatment plan recommended.
